Coral Spawning Naturalist Distinctive Specialty

Course Overview:

The Coral Spawning Observer Specialty Course focuses on the transmission of knowledge and hands-on experience observing coral spawning during night dives.

The philosophy behind the course is to observe coral spawning with minimal disturbance while ensuring diver safety. Participants will learn how to prepare for night diving, select appropriate coral sites for observation, and cultivate good habits in coral reef observation.

The course is designed to teach divers how to systematically enjoy coral spawning observation at night while taking care not to harm fragile marine life.

Course Schedule:

Day 1 (Afternoon):

  • Knowledge development session: Introduction to coral species, how to observe and record coral spawning

Day 1 (Night):

  • Open water night dive #1

Day 2 (Night):

  • Open water night dive #2

Requirements:

  • Must hold Night Diver Specialty or Advanced Open Water Diver certification

  • Minimum age: 15 years old

  • Bring a dive flashlight (underwater torch)

  • Cameras are welcome for recording and documentation

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy:

  • Cancellations made within one month of the course start date are non-refundable

  • If the course is canceled due to weather, the deposit will be retained and the course can be rescheduled

  • If unable to attend on the scheduled date, please notify us at least 14 days in advance

    • Course and deposit will be valid for 3 months

    • If the course is not completed within 3 months, the deposit is non-refundable

    • A new deposit is required to reschedule

    • Weather-related rescheduling is permitted without penalty
